Its done. The last full stop!!
Eighty six thousand words and I think I have done as good a job as I could do. Now its re reading multiple times to get out as much crap as I can before sending it to be edited. Then three chapters and a cover letter and prayers. I think it will be acceptable as the content is strong and relevant as to whats happening in NSW at the moment.

To the left of my computer is a favourite photo of Don and the sun is glancing off his face. I'm not crazy but sometimes that face seems to smile even more and when I put that last full stop down, I have no doubt knowing him he would have been pleased. Only needs a statement from my girls.

If I get hit by a Mack truck tomorrow it won't alter the course of what I have begun and I am anticipating the cold finger of apprehension that will be felt inside Royal North Shore Hospital when its published. Nothing wrong with taking a little pleasure in the discomfort of the guilty ones.

So I'm off down the street to sit in the winter sun with my copy and a cup of coffee or four to begin the long job of corrections, but at least I can do this amongst people. Writing that book has been the loneliest thing I have done for some time and I am exhausted.

Can I get three cheers from all of you : )))??? And if I hear you all, I promise that when (not if) but when its published there'll be a freebie for you if you want it.

You all are amazing. Thanks so much. I have hung back from contacting those related to me and friends (not online) as to how I was feeling and dealing with this all... when my youngest rang though tonight with her "statement" we both had yet another weep, but its done...and soon out there.

Rosemary... a close friend of mine/ours is days away from death. he came to see Don at the RNSH hospital. There is so much I want to say to him, but his wife still thinks if he thinks positive he will live...poor bugger he is dying... so I bought her a bottle of good chardonaay and some dark chocolate and said, "Just be with him. okay"

Foxymoron - thanks but by the time its in print you'll have heaps of people on your blogsite.... not just 3 0r 4

Jacqui - thanks luck is needed most of all

Sara you are one of the olde time goodies and I appreciate your thoughts

Wanna be slimmer Thanks girl, Don would be proud but perchance a tad dismayed at my lack of "cooking" skills of late...methinks

Mom. you'll all get one when its published hopefully sooner than later...when it happens I'll get your addresses. You lot have got me through!!!!

Sling of course, of course what else would I do before I mailed them out????

I am jumping up and down causing earthquakes! Good for you MC! That is fabulous. It will be a book the world needs to read and get it through their thick noggins that it's time to give our para's and disabled population the respect to life they deserve.

Congratulations friend! HUgs hugs

ann o'dyne - a monument of monumental proportions...yes! But doesn't that describe many of us in our 50s

Caroline... it goes in for editing today so hope it is well done.

CS Don't cause too many earthquakes, there's more than enough bother in the U.S. with that hurricane! I agree with you about the respect for life etc. I was reminded of this in Alison's statement which is in the book where she reminded me that a senior doctor in ICU sat us down and asked us what Don's life was like at home and what he did with his time??? Duuhh. This in 2007.

Hooray for such hard work. Relief and now a bit of rest, perhaps?
Best of luck to you in this.
