Farewell Aunty Jack
You furriners are in for a real treat today... I just found the song that Don and I called our theme song... I admit when we used to listen to it and watch the show, there may have been a wreath of smoke about our heads, but even straight we still loved it... Whenever this would come on we'd run and tell the other one and just sit there with silly grins on our faces. At one time we lived in his mother's back bedroom (only a few months) and she would be beside herself because we'd shut the door and put our little 9 inch black and white tele on - and she declared the show was crap and why did we want to watch such garbage - ah well..Don often called me "His little lovely" which actually came out of this song which I think was released in 1973, right up till the end.
This show was unique...
On his headstone the girls and I put "Eternal love from your three little lovelies"
The song brought a tear but happy tears. It was a time when we owned a car worth $142 an old Hillman Minx. We were very young and very much in love - and check out the song below. This was broadcast on ABC (Australian) Tv on the night when Colour first came to Australian TV and it was on the Aunty Jack show when they did the changeover... right in the middle of "Woolongong the brave"

I said hello to Graham Bond once as I was getting off a train and he was getting on (at the Cross). He looked so familiar I was sure I knew him. He politely said 'hello' back. It took me quite a while to figure out who he was and then the penny dropped.
I've always thought Thin Arthur has such a sweet voice. I can't remember much about the show, but know every word of the song.
Wow this has such great memories for me. I was watching on the night that the teev became colour. Mum was away in Sydney and Dad was asleep on the lounge.
I loved Aunty Jack and especially Kid Eager.
Norman Gunston was a folk hero to me, I had his photo laminated in my pencil case at school.
Thanks for introducing Aunty Jack to this furriner, it has stood the test of time well. Definitely see the roots of some other modern Australian stuff in it
Caroline Wow, a celeb stalker in our midst. This show was something else.
foxymoron - they were great times and glad this bought back memories for you
Jacqui - these people were outside the square for the times, and this show was never repeated once. We used to hang out that it might be, then about two years before Don died, they released some of it on DVDs so we were able to see it all over again...still as good for us.
I remember wheen the whole neighborhood went across the street on Sunday night,to watch 'The wonderful world of Disney' in color!!..marvel of the age.
Thanks for introducing Auntie Jack to my humble hemisphere MC! :)
Our kids used to be very upset when the announcer said the following program would be brought to you in living color. On our old black and white TV it was still just black & white
I love Auntie Jack.
Oh I forgot to say that I got the remastered DVD, I had actually forgotten that I had it, so often do we move house. Must dig it out and watch it again.
What a hoot of a show, MC. It is perfect for you and Don. You make me laugh sister!
I was watching that night too.
Shoop shoop The Gong Gong!
