Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree....

Not exactly a gum tree but his kookaburra sat outside my window for the longest time - as if tame...even making direct eye contact with me many times. They don't usually come right up to the window here... it was an amazing feeling to be so close... click on the photos to ee it up close...when it landed its crest was all fluffed up - I think it might be a female as the males seems to have the crest up all the time (typical het) or maybe a dfferent breed of kookaburra

Maggie thats just maazing yout timing - I must have just clicked and re read - spooky hey...sometimes with some birds and animals... I get a special feeling - its like just for the moment there is something going on on another level and we recognise each other - its amazing and then off they fly or run and thing no more about it...thats the part i like - for them its normal - for us its an experience... we think/poder/ dwel etc maybe a bit too much but thats our nature as well

Do you ever think some of us come back as animals? We had some incredible animal sightings after Sarah died. Once we were driving back from Picton and on the side of the road was an echidna, I have never before or since, seen one in the wild. We stopped the car and it was right by the road, I rolled down the window and I swear it looked up at me, right in the eyes. We were all speechless, even little five year old Kate and we drove home in silence that day.
I can just see Don as a kookaburra, laughing at the foolishness of some humans. ;)
You take wonderful photographs by the way.

Well, aren't you a dab hand with the camera. Fantastic photos. Kookas must be Australia wide. I wonder if they are all the same species.

I remember singing the Kookaburra song in Mrs.Wolfort's class back in first grade!
Nice of the little fella to hold still for those pics. :)

Anything named something as fabulous as kookaburra needs to be photographed. Thanks for sharing, MC.

Foxy - Thanks - I just point and click and if there were more human beings about i would point and click at them as well. I am not so sure as coming back as an animal - but maybe for the moment they are able tobecome a part of the animal's consciousness - I have seen and experienced some amazing things of late I cannot explain - especially with the maggies

Andrew - there seem to be different ones but easily recognisable - will have to look that up

Sling you are kidding me...it was supposed to have been written by a layd back awhile but the tune is even older from wales or somewhere.

In Australia there has been a controversy about a band from the 70's pinching a bit of it for their song - as it is a folk tune from way back (the tune) i don't think anyone has rights on it... The band is called Men at Work and I think I'll put it up in my next post for you to have a look at...I like it so much
