Time for a clean up.
I finally got the courage to go down to the shed on the flat ground near the tidal creek and sweep it out. The stink of dead rats in that shed has stopped me cleaning it for a months now, as the rats were in varying states of decay and not just one or two... so yesterday i thought I'd tackle it...
It was pretty high in the shed even after opening the doors. Then in under a big roll of nylon netting I saw a big shiny black shape...which looked like tar at first because it was moist and very black. Then it seemed to be moving...SNAKE!!!

But was a very dead snake - it was a snake full of maggots and they were moving...a few dry retches later I had to figure out how to get it out an away from the place. A slight move and it began to fall apart spilling maggoty matter everywhere...more dry retches...

Finally I rolled it in the netting and used the netting to pull it out ...

The snake must have gone in there after the rats and got itself trapped in the netting head first... unable to reverse. But hey I thought being dead winter snakes should be all asleep... when I first found it all stretched out it would have been 6' and quite round in places.... but after moving it it was a bit mucked up.. am feeling quite pleased with myself at persevering when all my instincts said leave it alone..shut the door and it'll all go away in about a month...

Thank you so much for sharing that maggotty image with us.

I am already depressed by online news of dog burning by fkn retards, and Sam the koala is dead from all the damn publicity.

oh the poor snake - what a vile death - they cannot reverse? - who knew?

You do get 10/10 for your Bravery Badge Project though.

I sympathise completely!! The number of rats that we find dead in and around the bach that need ...er... attending to!! Not quite sure how I would cope with a snake... but better a dead one than a livey I reckon!

PS... thanks for looking in on me!!

Andrew - took me ages to get the uploading part right... yes...shiver but poor snake also what a horrible way to go

Foxymoron...I have a pretty storng stomach for everything apart from seeing my own bone through a cut...years back now that made me lose it.

Ann O'Dyne...I felt sorry that the snake lay there dying for probably a few days and I was so close and unaware...I would have called the snake people and he would have been okay and taken away a bit...not to be...animals are so innocent and also sad about Sam the Koala

Janene - when it comes to freshly dead rats, if they are in the back shed I just leave them to whatever eats them...opther rats...but this was too big to leave in the shed out of sight and it really stank

Mom, but where do you run to if its your house...I'd be laughed at if I called on a neighbour man to sort this out...

Anne what accent would that be?? tee hee..

Sling - you are a real boyo aren't you...no doubt would have gotten down on hands and knees and inspected it at even closer quarters...and yes I was wondering what accent I had. I just talk "strine" our word for "Australian"

How cool is that....hearing your voice, not the snake. Therese...I'll buy you some new netting....just throw the stuff out....and I could see the maggots. You are one brave lady!!! Is that a deadly snake or just a run of the mill snake?
