My lovely Don died late Thursday nght. He made it home .
No anger, just sadness.
He was beautiful and so brave to the end and died quietly with the girls either side, and myself at his head with my hand tucked under the side of his neck as we often did.
Three of my sisters were there, and his brother and a friend, in a quiet room...he deserved such a peaceful seamless death to this life. My sister who travelled home on the air ambulance with him said he said his mother was there and he said she was smiling and well and patted him on the chest sometimes.

Time with the girls is precious today but am letting them sleep for now.

There are no words and I'm sorry seems so inadequate. I am glad that he died where he wanted to be and that at least is some comfort. I'm sure he is now sleeping peacefully in the arms of the angels. Now you and your girls need to take care of each other. My thoughts are with you.

I am so very sorry for your loss...I wish there was something more I could say or do. You were also a brave one and I am sure Don's strength as well. Hold on tightly to your girls.

Don's spirit is free from suffering at last. While this makes me very happy, I know for you and the girls life without him is crushingly unbearable. Rest assured he is with you, and will be always. As are we - when you're ready for us again. For now, just hold your girls close and all of you hold Don closer.
