Sometimes I feel the need to justify that I work and have kids, but I think we balance it all out as fair as possible you know. Gone are the days you can survive on one wage with a big family. I grew up in a family with four kids and mum and dad provided for us just fine with only dad working. But nowadays there is so much more to pay out for...phones, internet, multiple insurances..blah blah blah. As I say, I would not change life, I would however, shift to the country area of The Grampians in a second.
***********************************
Re parenting, wow, I know what you mean by parents ignoring their little ones. There is a lady I see walking to the shops with her little ones straggling behind her every time I ride my bike. The little ones would be about 3yrs and 5 yrs of age. The Mum, she walks with her headphones blaring in her ears (you can hear the beat of the songs as you pass her). The little ones struggle to keep up with her and their legs work overtime, she never looks back at them..and I always comment to my friend/mum. So sad for those kids.
Re the prams, I had a forward facing pram, I loved seeing my babie's faces :)Cazzie!!!https://www.blogger.com/profile/13856029137337148466noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18214889.post-44578585800142090042010-08-02T19:28:38.219+10:302010-08-02T19:28:38.219+10:30This is one of the best posts I've read in age...This is one of the best posts I've read in ages, if not ever. So well put Therese and I agree with everything you wrote and have tried, and perhaps not always succeeded, to be an interested and involved parent, and been at times mildy criticised for it. But my two youngest are people I would rather be with than anyone else, they are wise, funny, and questioning of both their parents and the world around them. I respect them and have learned so much from them.
Now I need to go find Cazzie's vegie garden post.
Oh I passed on your message to Em re her art.
